After it had been conquered by the Hussites, all the buildings were destroyed except for the cathedral and the romanesque rotunda of St. Martin. During the French Revolution casemates were built in the fort bulwarks, which were underground stone corridors with embrasures. Today, it contains originals of sculptures from the Charles Bridge.

It is representative of deconstructive architecture and made up mostly of reinforced concrete. It got the name ?Dancing house? thanks to its towers resembling the figures of dancers Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. The male dancer is represented by the stone tower and his female partner by the glass tower.

It was built from financial resources raised from a national fund-raising campaign. It was ceremoniously reopened on 18 November 1883 after a large fire.

Over the first pillar in the old-town section Parléř built Old Town Bridge Tower, which is considered to be the most beautiful gateway in all gothic Europe. The bridge is 520 meters long and it is decorated by a collection of thirty mostly baroque statues and sculptures.

At the top of the hill there is the Petřín lookout tower, which is 60 meters high and which was built as a free imitation of the Eiffel Tower in Paris (the glassed-in look out gallery at 53 meters above the ground offers a beautiful view over the wide surroundings). There is an exquisite rose garden, planetarium and mirror maze, which is children?s most appreciated sign on the Petřín hill.

An extensive reconstruction was carried out by Charles IV., followed by other changes occurring during the Renaissance and reign of Rudolph II. who moved his seat from Vienna to Prague and brought the city up to European standards. That?s when the new palace wing at the north side (Spanish Hall, Rudolph Gallery) was built. After the First World War and the establishment independent Czechoslovakia, the Castle became the seat of the president. The castle complex consists of the high gothic St. Vitus Cathedral, the dominant feature of Prague Castle, where the Bohemian crown jewels are deposited, the Daliborka Tower and the tourist-magnet, ?Golden Lane? (Zlatá ulička), which is made up of tiny houses with coloured facades, originally the home goldsmiths.

This building is considered one of the most equisite examples of high Baroque north from the Alps. Both cathedral towers (bell tower and dome with turret) are 79 meters high and form a significant part of the Prague panorama.

In 1410 the a Horologe - a moving astrological clock - was built in its tower. The east wing of the city hall was burned down and completely destroyed during Second World War. The whole square consist of a of mixture of exquisite gothic, renaissance and baroque houses (e.g. the gothic House at the Bell and many more). Among the dominant features is the baroque St. Nicholas Church and gothic Týnský Church.
This zoological garden is among the youngest in Europe, with more than 360 kinds of animals (totally almost 1700 species total, from insects to elephants). The chance to make direct contact with the animals is going to be an unforgettable experience, especially for children.Opposite the ZOO main entrance there is a jewel of baroque architecture - Trojský Chateau. The neighbouring botanical garden originally served only for scientific purposes, the exposition wasn?t opened until 1992. In May 2003, the Fata Morgana greenhouse was opened - here you?ll find semi-desert plants, species from tropical mountains and plants from all continents.
